Spring is here. Time to go Stream Wading!!
Friends of Deep Creek Lake is leading the DNR led Stream Waders Program sampling at DCL this year. Guided by trained leaders, teams of 5-6 people will walk targeted lake tributaries taking samples of macroinvertebrates, indicators of water quality, and other water quality sample. We have set an ambitious goal of 24 sampling sites.
We went out on April 4 and 5 and collected samples at 11 sites in the southern end of the lake.

WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT? Previous samplings at DCL have shown 80% of sites tested in 2004 and 2006 rated either "very poor" or "poor". See Fact Sheet on our web page for details.
Hope you can be involved. This will be fun and very useful!!!
